Importance of soil exchangeable cations and aluminium content on land snail distribution
نویسندگان
چکیده
The in ̄uence of soil exchangeable cations and aluminium content on the distribution of various terrestrial gastropods was investigated. Calcium was the most important factor, though aluminium and magnesium content also had some effect. Potassium and sodium had no signi®cant in ̄uence on distribution. The species most sensitive to the factors analysed were Cochlicopa lubrica, Vertigo pygmaea and Carychium tridentatum. # 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.

Effect of different land use on Potassium forms and some soil properties in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Southwest Iran
The pasture and forest land use change to agricultural use can effect on many properties of the soil and its productivity. The present research aims to investigate various forms of K (soluble, exchangeable, non-exchangeable, and structural forms) and some soil properties in different land use of three areas including Choram, Kakan and Bahmaei in Kohgiluyeh and Buyer-Ahmad Province. Four profile...
متن کاملExchangeable and Bioavailable Aluminium in the Mountain Forest Soil of Barania Góra Range (Silesian Beskids, Poland)
The research was carried out in the spruce forests of Barania Góra (Silesian Beskids, Poland) affected by pandemic dying of trees. Twenty-seven samples were collected from the O layer in two plots: 17 in a cut down forest infested with insect pests (bark beetle) and ten in a 120-year-old healthy forest. The analyses covered basic parameters (pH(H2O), pH(KCl), w(org), C(tot), N(tot), CEC) and th...
متن کاملCANOPY TREE–SOIL INTERACTIONS WITHIN TEMPERATE FORESTS: SPECIES EFFECTS ON pH AND CATIONS
We quantified soil acidity and exchangeable cations in the forest floor and upper 7.5 cm of mineral soil beneath the canopies of individual trees of six different species in a mixed-species forest in northwestern Connecticut. Soil pH decreased in a sequence starting with sugar maple (Acer saccharum) . white ash (Fraxinus americana) . red maple (Acer rubrum) . beech (Fagus grandifolia) . red oak...
متن کاملThe site speci®c variables that correlate with the distribution of the Paci®c Golden Chanterelle, Cantharellus formosus
Cantharellus formosus is one of the most abundantly collected commercial mushrooms in western North America. Despite its importance to commercial harvesting, little information is known about the habitat requirements of C. formosus. The purpose of this study was to identify the environmental factors that correlate with the distribution of the basidiomata of C. formosus. Fifty-®ve plots (5 m 5 m...

Geologic and pedologic controls are the main factors determining the distribution of elements in natural soil environments. In order to assess the role of these factors in the content and distribution of major elements of soil, six parent materials including phyllite (Ph), tonalite (To), periditite (Pe), dolerite (Do), shale (Sh) and limestone (Li) were selected in Fuman-Masule region. Soil gen...
